What do I offer?
I offer weekly, one-on-one piano lessons from my home studio in Summer Hill, NSW. I encourage students to play an active role in choosing the style of music they want to study, making each lesson both personal and enjoyable.
I’m passionate about creating an inclusive learning environment and welcome the opportunity to work with neurodivergent students. Currently, I’m teaching children and adults who are autistic, dyslexic, and have ADHD or Down syndrome.
What happens during a lesson?
Whether you're learning piano for fun, preparing for a special event, or working towards AMEB grade exams, each lesson provides expert guidance in a professional and supportive environment. The majority of the lesson is spent playing pieces chosen by the student, helping them develop skills and confidence with every session.
A typical 30-minute lesson structure includes:

5 minutes of technical work

20 minutes of playing pieces, which also includes aural and sight-reading skills

5 minutes of music theory, sight reading, or additional aural training, as needed
How long are the lessons?
At MJ Piano Lessons in Inner West Sydney, lesson times are tailored to the student’s level and needs:

30 minutes for beginner to Grade 2 level children

45 minutes for Grade 3 - Grade 5 level children

45 minutes for secondary students in Year 11 or Year 12

45 minutes for adults from beginner to Grade 5 level
-
60 minutes for Grade 6 level and above, for all ages
Term structure
Students are taught at the same time, once per week, each teaching term, for a full term. There are four terms per year, there are nine lessons per term.

Term 1: Monday 3 February to Saturday 5 April 2025

Term 2: Monday 28 April to Monday 30 June 2025 (no lesson Mon 9 June)

Term 3: Monday 21 July to Saturday 20 September 2025

Term 4: Monday 13 October to 13 December 2025
Fees

30 minute weekly lessons: $562.50 for the Term (incl. GST).

45 minute weekly lessons: $843.75 for the Term (incl. GST).

60 minute weekly lessons: $1,125.00 for the Term (incl. GST).
