It’s with great excitement and gratitude that I officially introduce MJ Music Training, a project close to my heart. This new business is designed to empower music teachers to create inclusive, supportive learning environments that are accessible to all, with a particular focus on teaching neurodivergent students.
Why MJ Music Training Exists
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with many incredible individuals, each of whom has left an indelible mark on my perspective as an educator. Teaching my first student who is neurodivergent Krishaan was a particularly formative experience. His Dad instilled a lesson that remains central to my teaching philosophy today:
"Krishaan can learning anything, it just might take him a bit longer".
Since then, I’ve had the privilege of working closely with neurodivergent students and their families, alongside countless dedicated professionals—including child psychologists, occupational therapists, speech pathologists, and physiotherapists. These collaborations have underscored the remarkable dedication and resilience of parents who consistently go above and beyond to provide unwavering support, ensuring their children have access to equal opportunities and the tools they need to thrive.
These experiences and engagements have shaped MJ Music Training with the goal of making music education truly accessible to more students through specialised teacher training.
What is MJ Music Training About?
At the core of MJ Music Training is the belief that music is for everyone. Whether you’re an experienced teacher or just starting out, I aim to provide practical, research-based strategies to help you confidently teach neurodivergent students.
Our courses are designed to empower music instrument teachers with effective strategies to engage students with diverse learning needs. We focus on fostering an inclusive, welcoming studio environment where every student has the opportunity to flourish. Through this initiative, I hope to help educators not only diversify their teaching skills but to build a community committed to inclusion, accessibility, and shared growth.

A Big Thank You
This launch wouldn’t have been possible without the amazing people who’ve provided opportunity and support along the way.
Thank you to Krishaan, Jon, and Alex for giving me the chance to better understand the nuances of teaching neurodivergent individuals. To all the students, families, and health professionals I’ve worked with, thank you for your insights and the connections we’ve shared.
To my close friends Fiona, Carl, Wendy, Steph, Ollie, Anthea, and Mohsen, I am forever grateful for your encouragement. And a special thank you to Karen and David for your generosity, expertise, and support.
Like many neurodivergent individuals, my own achievements have stemmed from the collaborative influence of an incredible and diverse community. I hope to honour that by paying it forward through MJ Music Training.
What’s Next?
This is just the beginning. I remain deeply committed to making music education more accessible and meaningful, not just for neurodivergent students but for all who seek the joy that music can bring.
If you’re a music teacher looking to expand your skills or a parent searching for more inclusive educational opportunities for your child, I invite you to explore what MJ Music Training has to offer.
